Jared Guzman Studio

Hello, World

Hello, World. My name is Jared Edward Grace-Guzman. I’m currently 22 years old, and I am striving to be an Artist and a Designer.

I grew up in Natomas, California – a small suburb located north of Sacramento. I went to pre, elementary, middle, and high school all in Natomas before going to UCSC for my undergraduate degree. From 2016 to 2020, I started at the university with an ambition to learn astrophysics (the study of the stars! ) before quickly realizing it wasn’t for me. After one year, I decided to dedicate myself to studying Art. And then I discovered Architecture and Design. Well, I should say I discovered it for myself. It was there before.

My interest in design began to reveal itself as I took courses on Architectural History. I taught myself the basics of web design, coding, graphic design, typography. I took up all the extra-curricular opportunities I could handle. And started exploring the all-encompassing world of design.

What drove me was a curiosity of the world and how the collective ‘We’ interact with it. How do stories of stars find their way into legends? Why does the ideal suburb represent the ideal home? How does someone translate their experience of a sculpture into a feeling in their mind? And how do everyone’s experiences change how they see any one of those questions? My Art began to investigate some of those questions. I grew interested in the human experience.

And then I graduated Spring of 2020 from UCSC in the midst of a pandemic.

I suppose my story is not very unique, but that’s okay. I don’t think it needs to be for me to do what I want to do. So I’m going to continue my journey. And there is no better way to do that at this moment than through the technological reality of the internet.

Here, I will be sharing creations, resources, essays, and thoughts of my own. But don’t take my word for it. Take a look around my site and read some of my writings and form your own opinions of my work. I’ll be documenting my progress in exploring the worlds of Art and Design. I’ll also be posting tutorials on art and design, so you can learn alongside me.
